Why Charter?

Flexibility and independence are two of the main reasons for spending your annual leave on a sailing charter vacation. You choose your destination, and you decide when you step onto terra firma. You avoid the crowds when you want to be alone, or join them when you feel like it. Viewing the landscape from your private yacht will be your Kodak picture memory for life! You can set your own pace, choose your desired destination and take full control of your itinerary and eliminate queuing at busy airports.

The key word to yacht chartering is FREEDOM. You are the captain of your decisions. So, you decide when to sail, when to eat and when to throw anchor at hidden beaches or exotic ports. But should the notion for ‘living it up’ take hold of you, you can join the exciting nightlife in a bustling town or enjoy a meal in a popular haunt.

When hoisting your main sail and turning the yacht into the wind, you set yourself to sail the most exquisite coastlines. Glistening sapphire waters and pristine white beaches will be the order of the day. Dancing dolphins will be your entertainment hosts. You can snorkel when you want to cool down or scuba dive into the deep for a peep at vivid colored marine life. Enjoy national parks at different destinations. Rub shoulders with local people and stuff your shopping bag with souvenir trophies. You will never be the same once you have experienced a ‘Royalty Yachts’ vacation and tasted the good life.

The most popular yacht charter destinations include the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Florida Keys, the Bahamas and the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. Royalty Yachts cover all these and in addition, has access to all the best charter boats in exotic locations such as the South Pacific, the Seychelles and Thailand. Can you feel the freedom?

In one respect chartering is the same as all other vacations. They both take a certain amount of planning and preparation to make sure you have the best trip. You also have to pack your bags for either one. But charter vacation will be all the better for being customized specifically for you.

On board a luxury Royalty Yacht, you will find that there is no better way to experience a taste of freedom, elegance and style. You will also discover that a crewed luxury yacht charter may end up costing no more than an exclusive hotel or cruise ship. However, a fundamental difference is that you have ultimate privacy, control and as mentioned before – freedom! Something you’d never find on a cruise ship or in a hotel.

Your luxury yacht will be the royal domain for you and your friends, and the crew will attend to all your needs. You’ll get service that is professional, personalized and friendly. Your own personal chef onboard will provide you with the best in cuisine, prepared to your liking, and you can dine whenever you want without even making a reservation. Take charge of your vacation and join the growing numbers who sail in absolute luxury when and where they choose to.

You will also find another range of fun choices on board a luxury yacht. The water ‘toys’! Kayaks, windsurfers, water-skis, jet skis and diving equipment to name a few. These are often available for your entertainment. Incredible but true, the larger super yachts may even accommodate a helicopter pad, submarine bay, a gym or a cinema. Every charter boat has its own speed boat (tender) which can take guests water skiing, and take passengers ashore during the day, to the beach, or at night to enjoy a meal or other nightlife.

Sailing Destinations of the World:

BAHAMAS

The 'New World' was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492 when he dropped anchor just off the island of San Salvador. Columbus originally referred to the area as "baja mar" meaning shallow sea. 'The Bahamas' is a 100,000 square mile (161,000 Square Km) archipelago paradise, just a short 50 mile (80 Km) cruise from Florida! This mystical world of 700 individual islands and over 2 000 uninhabited cays extends for over 500 miles (800 Km). The crystal-clear waters allow up to 200 feet (61 m) visibility. Reefs abound, including the world's third largest. The diving and fishing is great! Together with pristine, deserted beaches, there are also over 55 world-class resorts and boutique hotels in the Bahamas. These provide a choice of fine dining and nightlife options. English is spoken throughout the islands with a distinct laid-back Bahamian dialect - a mix of English, African and other settler influences.

In the north:

Bimini Island, closest to the USA, is the 'Big Game Fishing Capital of the World'. Marlin, mantas, dolphin and sea turtles abound amid the coral reefs and warm Gulf Stream. The Berry Islands cluster is the 'Billfish Capital of the Bahamas', whilst Abacos Island, with its calm seas and mystical islands, is the 'Boating Capital of the World'. Grand Bahama Island is an endless ecological wonder and has all six ecosystems found in the Bahamas islands. It is also home to Freeport the second-largest port of the Bahamas.

The central islands:

The most populated Island is New Providence, which is home to the capital Nassau, whilst Andros Island is the largest yet most sparsely developed. Eleuthera and Harbour Islands are 110 miles (177 Km) long whilst a mere two miles (3,2 Km) wide. It is from here that we get the names "iguana", "avocado", and "guava". The Cat Islands boast rolling hills, high bluffs and many caves and deserted beaches, dense woodlands and rich wetlands. Exumas is an archipelago of 365 cays and islands which the Tropic of Cancer crosses.

To the south:

Long Island is also split by the Tropic of Cancer in its northern corner and is known as the most scenic of all the Bahama Islands. Its capital is Clarence Town. Dean's Blue Hole, located west of Clarence Town, is the world's deepest underwater sinkhole, dropping to a depth of about 650 feet (200 m). Dean's Blue Hole is a unique freedive site and both world records have been set here. Cape Santa Maria Beach, located at Stella Maris, is frequently ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The Acklins is a group of islands arranged along a large, shallow lagoon called the Bight of Acklins. Here you will find protected reserves for endangered great iguanas and the very rare hutias (guinea pig like rodents) - the only native mammal of The Bahamas. Mayaguana is the most easterly of the Bahamian islands and is considered the halfway point between South Florida and Puerto Rico. It is also a popular stopover for yachtsmen on a direct route to the Caribbean. It is the least developed Bahamian island and considered the most isolated. Mayaguana has many underwater coral reefs off-shore and is scattered with many shipwrecks. Included amongst these is the first steamship to circumnavigate the globe, the Royal Navy sloop HMS Driver (3 August 1861). Inagua Islands is the southernmost of all the Bahamas. Here one million tons of sea salt is produced yearly, making this the second largest solar saline operation in North America.

Weather

The Bahamas stretch from just east of Florida and down into the Caribbean. Most of the 700 islands have very similar climates. Temperatures are moderate due to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The North American cold air systems cause slightly cooler temperatures than other Caribbean islands. Summer temperatures range from 80 to 90° F (27° - 32° C) and winter temperatures range from about 70° to 80° F (21° - 27° C) with the northern islands being slightly cooler.

Currency

The official currency is the Bahamian dollar. The rate of exchange is roughly 1 to 1 to the US Dollar. The US dollar itself as well as travelers' checks and credit cards are all widely accepted throughout the islands.

Travel

Traveling to The Bahamas is simple and convenient. Daily flights arrive at the main airports in Freeport and Nassau. From here convenient flights are available to airports on some of the smaller islands. Chartering yachts from the main ports is a must.

Best Buys

Many Bahamian retail stores offer an astonishingly cheap assortment of duty-free luxury items sourced from around the world. Bargains on fine cashmere sweaters, watches, jewelry, clocks, china, crystal, leather goods and fine linens can all be sourced in the Bahamas. Shops that meet strict government guidelines and verify that all brands sold are authentic, are adorned with a pink flamingo decal.
